Parker Jackson Wilderness Photography — Intimate encounters with nature

Our planet is amazingly resilient, but incredibly fragile at the same time. Wildlife and the natural world now depends on humanity to maintain the balance that is so critical for its existence. My photography is a celebration of life and an invitation to see some of these special moments in incredible detail in hopes that it deepens our collective love and appreciation for the miracle that is our planet.

After thousands of miles across decades in and around our beautiful wilderness areas, I began to have more and more close encounters with wildlife. Over time and as the number and nature of wildlife encounters took a dramatic turn, I became much more serious about the photographic opportunity presented by these magical moments.

This work is less about individual images and is instead more about the stories within and the collection as a whole. While customary for photographers to show only their very best shots, my personal style is to show those best shots and, often, several less remarkable images that help share context of the moment. My "only the best" images can be seen as a group on my favorite images page. Stories that include secondary context images can be viewed on my photo journal page.

In the Spring of 2025, I released my coffee table book, Wild Encounters in the American West. View the dedicated book website here or go directly to the purchase page if you're ready to buy a copy.
