The backdrop was impossible to ignore and the light was too good to pass up. I planted myself on the southern side of a group of horses and watched as all but one drifted westward. Eventually, the last horse began to budge -- and he made a deliberate detour to come say hello in his own special way. Read more
After spotting a pair of wild horses on the opposite side of the herd management boundary, I walked to the fence for a better look at them. Then- they ran to me. Perhaps they believed that there was an opening, or that I could open a gate. Intuition, reflection and fresh injuries on the filly give me reason to believe that they recently found their way on the wrong side, and have been struggling to get back home. Read more
